Camp Connect 4 AAC was founded in 2024 by Jeremy Legaspi and Wylanta Jones. They are both passionate speech-language pathologists specializing in AAC. They recognized the need for an inclusive summer camp where children who use AAC could thrive, as traditional camps often lacked the expertise to support their unique communication needs.
Our MISSION is to create an inclusive camp experience that empowers children who use AAC to be autonomous communicators, connect community and AAC users and support ongoing learning for all participants.
Our VISION is to help make communities that encourage all communicators to be autonomous, learn and connect with others.
We believe:
Communication is a human RIGHT
Communication is an invitation
Communication is about connection
In presuming competence and potential
In communicative freedom and choice
In access to communication that maintains cultural identity
AAC is a valid and equal modality of communication
Community participation in camp activities leads to awareness and validation of AAC users as equal members of their community and improves access to and quality of services
